Imo paper isn't acceptable for tea parties. Plastic is slightly more expensive but looks more professional than paper cups/plates.
$80 is a lot to be paying to eat off paper too. O-T-Tea in San Francisco had nice venues, actual china and cutlery, and tickets were $85, although it wasn't a burando sponsored event.
