well I will just throw wild guesses at you but consider this:
Don't try to make your cloths too shiny. Most of the time people try to use artifical stuff for their cloths which are too shiny, plus they make them too clean and perfect. Try to use wool or linen, although I realize that could be expensive but cheating as always allowed so you don't need to use 100% ones.

also as far as I understand the skirt is a must have for anything that tries to be magical girl themed. As I showed on my previous picture there were kind of similar skirts in the late medieval periods / early renaissance. And those were fashionable for men too at the time (although I will assume that you are female for the sake of my sanity)
And don't worry about the skirt thing if it don't go below knee height and you cut it up front and back or the two sides then it's perfectly good for combat there were a lot of cloths like that.

it's very useful and could give you a lot of idea, although keep in mind that documents only shows a very few things from a very wide time interval.
