Yeah in my experience the Rococo influence didn't come about until 2006 about when the Marie Antoinette movie came out. Before then Victorian children's fashions were most often cited as the main influence. And before that when gothic lolita was the dominate type visual-kei was considered the driving influence.

Really I think the roots of lolita have alot more to do with Alice in wonderland, little house on the prairie, Anne of green gables, and the prairie revival in the 70's.
