I've always felt the same way, so you're definitely not alone. I feel and look really dumb whenever I try on headbows, and find they make my face look extremely long because of how voluminous they are. I also primarily wear rectangle headdresses and only ever had success with those flat headdress style bows like in picrel, so I recommend you look into those if you want to find something that works!
