I'd have to agree with the other anons, but maybe a bit earlier, 1997-2006 was def the Lolita Renaissance. I like prints, but a lot of the earlier dresses had amazing cuts and looked very cute and more realistically doll like with a touch of early 2000s tacky which makes my heart flutter. I feel like modern lolita really misses the mark of being intentially frumpy and cute because it's focused on how much of a "princess" you look with perfect poofs, bows, and matching everything.

Old school has a charm to it because it's not perfect. Modern brands strive to make everything "perfect" now and keep missing the mark really badly (See post-2012-AP, where everything looks the same with different shitty prints to keep up with fast fashion and taobao)

I wish prints would die off for a little while, it might reset the fashion back into where it should be
