I'm so bloody guilty of this, though I usually do it at night to aid myself to sleep. As a bonus it often influences my dreams so I'm constantly seeing my fantasies in a more surreal platform. I too give my soppy stories a tragic twist to them but whenever I see it in actual media I find it annoyingly melodramatic, even though my storylines are ironically influenced by the exact same shit I'm bothered by in anime. They're like a clusterfuck of crossovers.
