1/3?

PAX info dump? PAX info dump.

>WHAT THE FUCK IS PAX
PAX is a mixture of acrylic paint and Pros Aide Adhesive that's used for long-lasting skin color changes

> WHY SHOULD I GIVE A FUCK
When properly mixed and applied, PAX has near unparalleled longevity compared to other types of makeup.

In other words, when you touch something, you won't leave makeup on it. However, when it does come off, it tends to peel and crack instead. (pic related: PAX applied to hands after the end of a full day of touching shit and driving)

> What should I use it on?
Use PAX on areas that you expect to be in contact with other surfaces quite often. I like using it around my neckline in particular so my makeup doesn't rub off on my collar.

> Where should I not apply it?
PAX is non-ideal for areas like the face because it has less elasticity than creme or cake makeups, but you can still use it there. However,

DO NOT APPLY IT ON YOUR EYELIDS.

Use a creme or cake for that shit, seriously. Also, don't apply it to your hairline, and shave your arms/chest/back before applying if yours those are particularly hairy.

> Which Pros-Aide should I use?
There are currently three kinds of Pros Aide on the market.

The original, marketed just as Pros-Aide is pure white and pretty sticky. Bonus: you can use it for applying prosthetics.

No-Tack Pros-Aide was formulated specifically for mixing PAX. As the name implies, it's less sticky than the original, which can make application and make you less prone to sticking in your joints as your powder wears down. Downside: can't use it for prosthetic application, and it's got a slightly yellowish tinge to it which may affect the hue of lighter colors.

Pros-Aide II is my favorite to use for mixing PAX for a number of reasons. It's about identical to the original in terms of appearance and tack, but it's formulated for more sensitive skin and the easiest to remove of the three.

HI THERE ANON, let me talk to you about PAX!

I was supposed to do PAX tests with friends over winter break encompassing all three varieties, but that's been pushed back again. At the very least, I can share our in-cosplay experiences with the stuff so far

My friend has a bottle of No-Tack and I have a bottle of II, and we've both borrowed each other's on the occasions where only one of us brought it. I'll add in the usual disclaimer of "good for non-flexing areas like the neck and limbs, prone to cracking on joints and face"

No-Tack has a slightly yellowish tinge to it, and is less opaque than Original or II. With a 1:1: paint to Pros Aide ratio, it went on evenly in about 2-3 coats. I'll try to get her to respond with her experiences.

II is pure white like Original, and comparable in consistency to No Tack, but much more opaque. Image is 2-3 layers of II on a hand not too long after application. It seems to cling to the sponge a little more than No-Tack while doing the stippling motion. Both my friend and I have noticed that II is much easier to remove than No Tack or Original; sometimes hot water and a bit of soap and friction is enough to remove it, but if that fails a shower and some makeup wipes will also work. I have a bottle of remover that I've also used successfully... but since II is easier to remove, I usually don't bother.

A little under 11 hours after application, and DONE for the day as far as I'm concerned. After 5 I ended up driving for approximately 40 minutes to go hang out with friends at a coffee shop. Handles seat belts, purse items, boot zippers, playing cards, food/beverage items. I started getting progressively more wear on my fingertips and eventually caved in and started rubbing at them to get some of the peelage off. When I got home I was able to remove what was on my palms and most of the hairless areas of my fingers with just hot water and friction, and I used isopropyl myristate to aid in removing the rest. Removal would have been faster and easier if I had taken my own advice and remembered to shave my hands/wrist/fingers. Do as I say, not as I do. :B

Also, my friends pointed out that I may have been getting tackiness on my fingertips because I didn't wait long enough before powdering? Clarification to come at a later time.

Also, Caliborn/Troll Hussie mentioned it's probably worth mentioning you should never, ever put PAX on your eyelids; not only is it a delicate area, but the PAX WILL stick to itself like crazy in that area... eyelids sticking together is not a good thing.
