Currently in the process of making myself a simple black Lolita skirt. Thinking of something like this but gathering it at the top rather than adding pleats. Thoughts on whether that would look okay? Or will it take away from the bottom?

Also if anyone knows of a good tutorial for getting the layered effect at the bottom that'd be great. The nearest I can seem to find is Yumi King tutorials.
