My opinion, say no to the eat fuzzy shoulder look. It's not at all what anybody actually did, it is a lot more maintenance than it's worth.

a good hood is both easy to learn to make, it fits a wide variety of looks and social classes. It's also going to provide you with a lot more utility, keeping you much warmer and giving you head to hurt at the same time.

Set Hood could also be worn with your helmet, automatically dressing it up.

Buy some cheap cotton flannel, and you can make a very simple hood that will fit your theme. Pic related
