I'm a con photographer and I'm just as lost on the matter as you. I have a few friends that do cosplay, and I'll drag them around for photos, but I see a lot of cosplayers that i'd like to y'know, go around out back, get comfy, find some nice trees, and take some quality cosplay photos. To make up for it I ussually take a bunch of photos with people doing normal things, just to get more diverse shots.

I've always thought it would be fun if there was a convention version of speed dating to pair up photographers and cosplayers, not for actual dating possibilities, just for being friends and taking shoots. I really think meeting interested cosplayers/photographers is something many people are missing out on.

We tried to make a "/cgl/ list of friendly photographers" but that didn't quite work out. We could probably do something similar on a con-con basis, but it would still be pretty scetchy.

That feel when pass by thread 'OP's photo looks familiar. Come back later 'oh it's mine'.

I live in Atlantic Canada, so things I'll be driving/flying to a few cons that are.. not on the other side of the country.

> Feb: Katsucon
First time going, really excited about seeing all the pro cosplayers and neat event (assuming the 18 hour drive doesn't kill me)

> Mar: PAX East
Missed the rush for reg :c probably for the best that I don't go anyways. 10/10 con, would recommend.

> May: Anime North
Flying back to Toronto so I can visit parents and make my favorite con of the year~ this will be my 11th year at AN, and hopefully i'll get some good panels in. Anime Boston is the same weekend, otherwise I might have been able to go.

> June: Animeritime
The only full sized anime con in all of Atlantic Canada, I've never been but it sounds pretty fantastic, 5 hours away in Fredericton.

> Aug: Otakuthon
This con really wowed me last year, I'm really looking forward to going again, maybe even run some panels.

> Oct: Halcon
One of the more disappointing cons i've been to since APOP, the poor lighting everywhere makes me less enthused about going. Nice people to meet, decent panels, bad venue
