Looking for some critique/advice on my eye makeup with hooded lids and eyebrows.

I've been following Wayne Goss' tutorial for hooded eyes with the Too Faced Peach Palette but I don't feel like I'm quite there yet. The colors look really bold in person and I feel like a goober when I go out because I normally wear just a single color all over my lids. As for the brows, I've been using a NYX brow gel in Blonde and I think it's a nice step up from my almost transparent brows. I'm trying to keep those simple and avoiding the Instagram trends at all costs.

Are there any techniques out there for an everyday look or do I have to wear this "two-toned cat eye" every day for eyeshadow to be visible? Any YouTube videos I should refer to? Better brushes? I'm all ears!
