that is not entirely correct. arquebuses wasn't that good or reliable, AND they were pretty much expensive. People still used crossbows in the time of arquebuses. The change appeared later with the muskets and similar stuff.
Also teaching someone to fire with a crossbow is easier. Although it's more tiresome to fire with a crossbow, but then again it rarely explodes into your face so there is that.
