She looks FUCKING HORRENDOUS. I have yet to see a cosplayer with artificially darkened skin that didn't look like complete shit. There is no way to make it work. It doesn't make you look anymore accurate to the character. It's distracting. You wouldn't want to see a black girl with skin painted peach so she could have a "more accurate" Sailor Venus cosplay.

You're better off using whatever natural skin tone you have like pic related. Will some people get mad regardless? Yes. But if you paint your skin a different color you will get shat on even more AND look terrible. Expecting anything otherwise is beating a dead horse.

Because white girls cosplaying Japanese characters are the norm in the west. With that said, it should still technically count. But when I think of racebent cosplays with white cosplayers, I expect something along the lines of this Michonne sans blackface.
