they have huge wardrobes NOW. they didnt back then. pre 2010 and a "big" wardrobe would be 20 pieces or so. now that would be considered small or medium. lolita shops were more scarce back then, and the fashion being newer/smaller means there were less opportunities to save money by getting items secondhand. so most people paid secondhand and had to save up, and wardrobes were smaller.
