I've certainly heard many people guff about costume contests, It's such a tough thing to make fair. Should an amateur cosplay that's really great be pushed to intermediate? or should it win the amateur section?

I'm sure different cons do it different ways, but I really feel like the contest should be based off costume complexity, not the claimed skill of the creator. Having contests for like 'fabric only' / fabric with 'props' / 'Armor'. I feel like both for the sake of the legitimate costume contest, and for the crowd it would draw, most cons should have a more adult costume contest like at Dragoncon after hours.

Amateurs could mark their status on the reg form, and there could be a 'best amateur' ribbon for each division
