im working on a nanban set of japanese armor and i am using one particular guy as my inspiration (pictured here). i have almost finished the morion converted to kabuto but i need a breastplate that is preferably really cheap because this is going to be more of an occasional costume or loaner kit. i have searched for a portuguese or conquistador breastplate, however the exact one i like isnt in stock anywhere. http://www.kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=IR80703&name=Steel+Plate+Cuirass+-+20+Gauge

i had heard rumor of a "large" group that operated in the area that i have recently moved to. the location is nice and there are multiple hiking trails and camping spots around so i had started to get my hopes up. i had prepped my armour and picked out my best attire. on the day they were to meet up i arrived with my equiptment in my trunk and in street clothes to scope it out. there were approximately eighty people fighting when i had approached. But upon donning my garb and talking to the "check in" they had told me the basic rules and that that i should tone it down because that not everyone would appreciate a newbie wearing nicer attire and that i was unable to wear any sort of armour because it encouraged not calling hits. my latex sword was not allowed because they only allow boffers. turns out this larp was ultralight full contact boffer fighting and thats it. no roleplaying, no personas, just dickbats. is this it? is this american larping? why cant i go to these villages that people build and hang out with people that pretend that they are in another world or time and have swordfights with people that are playing to have fun and not using ultralight dickswords and weightless mattrass sheilds?
what do i even do? am i expecting too much?

I dont know. it depends on what kind of post-apo setting.

If its a some years later then maybe not.
if its 200 or 300 years later then people would probably have to make new clothing and have time to revert to tribes.

If you do not absolutly want to have if embroided you can try other way to have it. one of them for exemple would be serigraphie, a way to ''print'' it on the fabric.

a bowl and a spoon is actually all you are supposed to need during a medieval banquet.

Food is prepared so everything can be grabed by hands (or by a little pick for those fancy people) and you would not even need a knife so as long as you have a wooden bowl and a spoon you're alrigth. if you ever want to get a better looking feastware after that its even better.

For the cup, dont bring anything made from glass its asking for an accident.

For cups my personnal favorite is terracotta if transport is not an issue.
if transport is an issue, go with metal.
