I'm not brave enough to wear nanchatte or jfash in my conservative baptist community. Would it be tacky to wear it just to anime conventions and say that I'm a generic high school girl (despite being mid-20s)?

Wear it, but not daily. I like that my university is so chill about clothing.

Modern, but sometimes old school OPs/jumpers get me aesthetically. Blazer > Seifuku unless it's a con.

Only one that I'm fond of right now is Ralph Lauren US Polo since they carry really nice fake blouse+cardigan looks.

Good thing nobody cares about your opinion because your concept of 'overweight' is clearly wrong and messed up. But okay.

And I was contemplating this one. Switch the cardigan for a blazer of the same color, switch the socks with tights, ad make the skirt a bit longer optionally to push it into a business sort of wear I guess.
That's if you want to get out of 'School girl' category though
