I think even "ugly" people can find a hair/makeup look that works for them. Maybe they won't be pretty, but at least look good overall, Juria Nakagawa was practically deformed and got modeling gigs and most VK guys are ass-ugly without makeup.
Also sorry to say it, but not being overweight goes a long way too. Many of the girls posted in the ita thread would probably look a lot better if they weren't obese and getting in shape is something that's achievable to everyone who puts the effort in.
