Speaking as someone with a passing interest in cosplay, the vast majority of these girls, these "famous" cosplayers, have awfully similar life stories. Those life stories essentially being a series of failures at whatever these girls tried before settling on cosplay. Modeling, acting, advertising, hell, even porn in a couple of cases - all resounding failures. Cosplay is becoming a haven for people who simply couldn't cut it anywhere else.

Now, the million dollar question is why do they thrive in cosplay when they failed everywhere else? They haven't changed - so what did? And the answer is that their intended public changed. They changed.

Pandering to the lowest common denominator is what cosplay has become. And we still ain't seen bottom.
