Home Depot! Lowes! Ace Hardware! What you're looking for isn't costume making, its prop making, which means you don't really need a fabric store, you need a construction store.

Home Depot has all sorts of precut strips of lumber (Poplar is very soft, easy to work with. Shaping, you just need a handsaw and a wood rasp, and some sandpaper)

They also sell insulation foam, which, at my store, comes in an inch thick, pink, solid wall of foam.

Anything else you possibly need for props, they should have it. PVC, Dowels, Screws, Paint (For basic painting, use art store acrylic paints for more detailed, fine colored shit)

Have fun, Anon. Prop making is a blast.
