Both are missing the joke.
It's supposed to be stupid, because generations don't mean shit really. The line between them is intentionally blurred because it's supposed to create an "us vs them" bullshit since Boomers blamed millennials for absolutely everything, just like how The Greatest Generation blamed Boomers for everything and so on and so forth.

Most memes are pretty stupid, but the Boomer vs Zoomer thing legitimately has some smart tongue in cheek mockery behind it. It's nuanced with a layer of parody that summons Poe's Law because of how absurd it is, but at the same time it mirrors exactly what people think and say. The fact that you two are confused about it is a testament to how well the joke is constructed. Generation segregation are arbitrarily designed by literal whos that manage to find the catchiest name to stick on anyway.

All in all, it's supposed to encompass the feeling of "man, everyone older than me is shit, and everyone younger than me is shit!" that will inevitably carry until your mid-life chapter.

tl;dr - boomers and zoomers are two sides of the same coin, keep making fun of the generation you consider below or above you. There's a reason why the meme either paints you as one or the other without a middle ground.
