I had that happen with a lolita post earlier today.
It was a black girl in several coords. Nothing shitty, but nothing new or amazing either.
But it had a ton more notes than any other (non famous) lolita post I've seen, and all the comments were "It's so nice to see a black girl in lolita!!" "Oh girl you're so beautiful!!" "Like a real princess, wow!!"

My qualm with Tumblr is this whole mindset that you're beautiful because you're POC/fat/queer, not that you're beautiful while POC/fat/queer.
I understand fighting oppression but giving someone special treatment isn't any less racist than treating them like shit. It's just a more-loving version of it.
