Okay but hypothyroidism more commonly occurs in women than men and it slows your metabolism considerably and then makes it borderline ridiculous to lose weight unless you're on specific medication to fix that problem. Metabolic disorders are more prevalent and more underdiagnosed than people think.

If you're fat but your metabolism is at a practical standstill, you still aren't going to be able to lose a significant amount of weight because that's not the only part of your health that's messed up.
