>Only ever plan solo cosplays with no official partners/groups because cosplaying in itself is fun
>End up at cons with a new friend/group or gets closer to a current friend because we end up matching and hang out for the rest of the time we're wearing the costumes. Pretty much a loner at cons that drifts between friend groups to get a chance to talk to and hang out with a bunch of people
>Entirely content with this lifestyle

>Friends start syncing up their cosplay plans to mine
>Alright awesome, it's nice having friends that are always cool to be around and fun to hang with
>Subconsciously recruited for their groups
>Okay still awesome, friend groups are awesome and it's cool not being alone
>"Best friend" throws a hissy fit every time I end up cosplaying "with" someone other than them because we haven't done any partner cosplays together and they're never invited to the same groups so this obviously means I don't want to be seen with them or want to hang around them even though we still hang out at cons
>Okay.
>Finally plans a cosplay with them
>Friend gets pissed off whenever I wear the cosplay around another person, and overall very very possessive of it because it's "our thing"
>"We should do way way way more together!!!"

It pisses me off whenever people act possessive with cosplays/partners/groups. It's fun hanging out with people and matching so you have friends to be around that people will recognize what you guys are, but when people get legitimately angry and upset over you wearing a cosplay that you put money, time, and effort into, with people you want to and doing absolutely no harm to anyone in any form, it rubs me wrong. I'm used to doing solos and then meeting up with people if we happen to match. I don't want to feel guilt every time someone tells me they like my costume and I should do a shoot with them sometime and I have to say no. I don't want to feel bad or chained down for something that I made and want to wear around other people.
