I think frames depend on what styles you mostly wear. I have bad astigmatism (contacts aren't cheap or convenient) and prefer larger lenses, so I went with a transparent set of pink frames and a tortoiseshell pair from Zenni. The transparent ones are nice for lolita and whatnot because they're cute and don't stick out too much, and the other ones work nicely with the rest of my wardrobe.
I also think frameless and rectangular metal framed glasses are hideous, though.

It depends on what styles/brands you're most interested in. You should look into the capsule wardrobe concept or fyeahlolita's guides to basic coord building if you haven't already.
