and women often happily share their process of putting on makeup, anyway. they apply it in public, people talk and joke about it all the time, it's not a mystery. nobody has sparkly eyelids naturally. purple lips on a human are not a sign of health.

also, this is a board for cosplay and alternative fashion. the men here wear makeup too, and "natural" makeup is hardly ever recommended. this is the board of circle lenses, falsies, shironuri, gyaru... the app is not prepared for the level of artificiality seagulls enjoy.

people don't expect men to look nice.

people expect women to ALWAYS look nice.

so the bar is lower for men. additionally, there is incentive for men to actively avoid making themselves up. "looking nice" is seen as a necessary condition for being feminine, and men who put effort into their appearence are seen as unmasculine.

meanwhile, every woman faces pic related, cosplayer or not, fat or fit. when i started wearing foundation i was amazed at how much better i looked in photos; i am never going back.
