why do literally the worst types of people get attracted to these shows?

first you had my little pony, a show made by a feminist with little lessons at the end about friendship, girlpower, and cutting ties with bullies in a respectful manner. vast majority of fanbase flips its shit and sends hatemail when derpy is censored, whines about feminists and the friendzone, declare very openly that 'this show isn't girly' and puts fluttershy decals on handguns without irony.

now we have steven universe, a show seething with diversity, and the fandom contains people who don't think garnet is supposed to be a black woman and complain come the Rose Fountain ep because 'rose never used to be fat, this is a retcon to pander to the sjws'

it's like, the core basis of this show is opposite to your existing opinions in every way. what mental gymnastics are you using here to gain enjoyment out of it?
