Not all mori is heavy layers, usually the more over the top it is, the more layering an outfit has, but there are some simple mori cords that have almost no layering. The more causal side of mori is very appropriate for summer.

It's also as expensive as you make it. You can pay a lot of money for clothes from Japan, or you can alter or make clothing yourself, or you can even find pieces in thrift shops that work. Since mori is suppose to look natural and most people into mori do like nature, I think thrifting for clothes and recycling old ones or old fabrics into mori clothes is a good idea, and it's cheaper than trying to buy something specifically made for the style.
