Things went surprisingly well today cgl.

>got ready for a tea party at noon
>wore toned down lolita because I had work right after and no time to change
>no wig, no fancy bag, no circle lenses
>just jsk, tights, bolero, and tea parties
>mom actually showed up to the tea party with me and didn't flake like usual
>we had a good time; older ladies loved my dress

>later at work
>designer clothing retail
>braced myself because I was sure people would be dicks
>most coworkers were actually really nice to me and gave me compliments
>only the already bitchy ones did weird shit like not make eye contact with me/twisted half-smiles

>manning the dressing room
>customers love my outfit
>ask me for opinions about clothes and bags
>they rarely did that when I was in normal clothes
>everyone suddenly believes I'm a fashion guru due to obscure clothes
They mainly asked where my dress was from, how much they loved the print, etc. I tried to mention that I had been at a tea party because so many said I looked like Alice in Wonderland. I think I only mentioned to a couple people that it's a street fashion. Though really, I'd rather have them believe it's an event-specific outfit than try to explain what lolita actually is, since others have assumed it's a fetish from just mentioning the name (and I can tell from their eyes that they never get past that). Wouldn't want a confused customer trying to tell my manager that I'm bringing a fetish to work..aheh.
