To echo you Hungarian, it's all depending on the person. I've taken a full swing from a calimacil club (it was the dentist I believe) and while it stung, i knew it would have put someone else on their ass. Also since i use the Treville Rapier (pic related) I have gotten reports that my thrusts are harder than my slashes. That's par the course for calimacil but i can't help but notice it's always the ones who get worked up after getting hit. Better yet it's the fighters who never figure out I'm hitting at the same spot and they wonder why their right side hurts after taking 4 blows to the same rib.As the noob trainer at my larp, I've taken a lot of hits to the face, hands and groin from untrained fighters and mostly shrug them off. Running joke in training is that whoever finally puts me on my ass gets to take my place as the new whipping boy.
Also in the end, if it works who are we to judge what weapons vendors we use. Hell now I got a few more to look and my bank account will probably suffer some more.
