Ok so long explanation is there was a Japanese lolita fashion magazine (now defunct) called Alice Deco a la Mode which used to have more experimental coords than KERA, so the term "a la mode" is sometimes used to describe a less structured lolita style, but it's not a commonly used term. Some people also believe one of the traits of that magazine was brand mixing, but it actually mixed lolita brands with off brand and not mixing of lolita brands in one coord. Itas love this "a la mode" concept because it seems like it's breaking the lolita rules but it had pro stylists doing it, not noobs with no fashion sense.
