I adore classic because it is clean, quiet, and minimal so that the silhouette and fabrics really stand out.
I myself am a substyle-hopper, because I love just about everything about lolita, but classic has a special place in my heart. Growing up, the American Girl doll Samantha had a huge influence on my desired style. I wanted to be a spoiled, gilded age princess just like her.
Anne of Green Gables is my other classic inspo.
To me, classic is the style that requires the most attention to detail regarding consistent fabric weights and lace types.
Classic is classy (of course), maidenly, stylish, and gentle.

wtf, who? I've been on this board forever and have not seen this. diffanon but I've posted before about how Samantha was always my favorite growing up and her outfits and the clothes in the 90s Little Princess film are part of why I got into lolita.
>that and a U.K. gothic fashion brand called Dracinabox

diffanon but here's why I like lolita:
>it's luxurious and romantic and I'm a decadent lush
>(the good stuff) is so detailed and well-made; can last for years and years with good care
>lolita has a rich history and culture. nabbing a dress feels like collecting art
>I like being large and extra, taking up space and looking intimidating in a powerfully feminine way

that's what comes to mind. also, always having wanted to be a princess, and pic related being a huge fascination to me growing up.
