I'd like to clarify that I don't necessarily believe that the majority value of a cosplay comes from the attractiveness of the model. Undeniably most of the artistic value comes from the craftsmanship of the outfit, but similarly the canvas upon which it's showcased should have expectations of present-ability and discipline.
While I think a fat slob presenting themselves as a real-life depiction of a beautiful creative work is a strain on the hobby, I also hold people who outright purchase the bulk of their costume in a similar regard.

Unfortunately (or fortunately), these standards should be upheld when the essence of the hobby is paying respect to the artists who create the works and the people who hold attachments to those works.
