I mean youth hostels are fun, so far I've had a lot of good experiences with them. Never tried rooming with rando's for a con though. (Glorious LARP fag masterrace, I just have a tent camp.) Anyways, it might be a good chance to meet people if you pull the jackpot and make likeminded friends, just like at the con. Problem is you're forced together, so if they suck... well, so goodbye to a chill hotelroom.
