I'm the same guy

I'll try to explain with a story; The friendzone is something you place yourself in, by being overly friendly and not being clear in your intentions.

Let's say we have beth and billy
billy has liked beth for 6 months, billy has always been nice, but that's about it. He hasn't tried to be flirty, hasn't tried asking her out, hasn't tried teasing her in a friendly way. All he did was being nice, something he does to his grandmother as well, hopefully with different motives, but the same anyhow.

Now beth has known this friendly guy for 6 months and she likes him too, maybe she liked him but after 6 months he hasn't made a single move, maybe he doesn't like her? otherwise he'd have done something by now. Oh well, I'm not going to approach him.

And bam, just like that Billy and Beth are in eachothers 'friendzones' because they're too scared to step out of their own comfort zone and are now doomed to an eternal life of awkwardness of questioning why one doesn't like the other while they do, all because neither has the balls to step out of their own comfort zone.

This is how I vieuw the 'friend zone' as the 'victim's' own comfort zone.
