/cgl/ - Cosplay & EGL

I know one of /cgl/'s biggest pet peeves when it comes to cosplay is the shoes and how some folks don't bother using proper shoes to fit the cosplay.

So, I'm going as Solaire and I need suggestions on how to modify my shoes so they look decent. They're a dark grey colour but I can't JUST use another pair. These shoes are made for my feet to relieve pressure in my lower back. Without them, I'll suffer within the hour.

I have wonderflex, spray paint and chainmail fabric. What are my options?

I'll be attending as Solaire from the video game Dark Souls.

I'll be dressing up as Solaire for my local con, and I'm just waiting on a couple of materials to come it. I already got the sword and shield halfway done.

Two things I would like help with.

1.) Starting with the helmet. What's a good approach to figuring out how to create a blueprint and cut outs to start building it? Any good tips on how to make it fasten to my head easier so it won't fall off if I bend over.

2.) The sun on the white cloth, I don't have experience using 'paint' on cloth, but I assume they have special fabric paint for that? I don't plan on washing it, but is their any kind if sealer for that?
