I have come to you on hands and knees for some advice.

I'm planning on going to New York Comic Con for the first time dressed up; however I don't know the first thing on how to make a costume, and boy is my costume a pain. (image i who I am going as)

I was wondering if you had any tips? Like, ways to make it look like I'm wearing spray painted cardboard. What materials I should I use? How can I not die while wearing this?

also, any tips for a first timer? Please be gentle...

Making a helmet I can see out of and a comfortable body is the real challenge. Since these designs exist in the realm of videogame logic, I'd have to draw up schematics for a lot of the movement and joint mechanisms.
