Unfortunately, that boner for realism also means a lot of them are really fucking sexist (even for /tg/ and /cgl/)- if you check out reenactment communities, more than a few only have women as cavalry because the women own the horses.

I have a friend who was shut out from the local group because she didn't want to be a camp follower.

And (you probably know this, but) reenactors don't just 'go to a con', there's usually a big meet that reenacts everything around the combat too- so all you get to do that weekend is play fuckin' tent-house instead of having fun 'shooting' people and being a trooper, etc. Fun stuff.

So yeah, she doesn't do reenactment at all anymore. :(
