I did get it professionally chromed by coat of chrome in pa. This was my second helmet and I decided to hell with it and went all out. It runs about 300 for the chroming and then there's shipping.

You can do what the previous anon recommended or make a pepakura version and paint it, either way its going to look pretty shitty. Either way use cardstock to print this.
Also make some glove plates, you can buy chrome cardstock at a craft store then cut out the finger and hand plates. Then glue them onto some cheap glove liners, they look alright take like an hour to make if your slow and cost like 15 bucks.
It really helps a lot to have the gloves and a costume without even with a good helmet looks off. (self post and pic related)
