No, you're right. It seems like more normalfags are joining. It's the place to go to party and look at all the wacky costumes. I'll add my own feel. My one friend who doesn't even like anime wants to join me in an upcoming anime convention. While she's a nice girl and all, I don't really want to hang out with her at an anime con. It's not as fun hanging out with someone who doesn't share your interests in Japanese culture/hobbies. She can't relate with me there, and she's not part of this sphere. Maybe I'm overthinking it and it'll be okay, but it bothers me a little. I'll probably vent more once the con passes.
