I totally understand what you're saying but I'd also just like to point out

it was just to illustrate the idea I had but of course on everyone's suggestion I'm not going to use real medals anymore and would make ones with ribbons that match with the color scheme.

however, I see what you're saying about the band theme. Is there anything else I could do play on that theme? maybe pic related? another idea I got was also to add a sash/echarpe - perhaps I could make one or commission one with a musical theme?
