Looking at the 3D model, I can confidently say that Riot likes to do shit jobs at shading and lighting. Lulu's hat looks bright red on the visible part and I see why people would want to do that. I find it gross too though.
Ideally I will find a purple/brown/red (is that maroon?) fabric for this.
