You’re both right to a point. Remember the “cool girl” monologue in Gone Girl? There’s a part where the lead describes that there are different kind of idealized female for different men. Depending on the kind of guy a girl is after, there’s different beauty ideals in different niche subcultures. In general American pop culture the body goal is “slim thicc”, big boobs, big thighs, small waist. In weeb circles, the ideal is still more thin all over, with long limbs and a thigh gap.

A weeb guy might fetishize the fake cosplay version of lolita worn by an anime character, that doesn’t resemble true lolita fashion at all and the reality of the fashion would turn him off before he seriously entered a relationship with a real lolita.
