It's one of the top series in Japan right now and Kira has been on the anime list of popular males for several years running in the USA and Japan. That's why I mentioned it. For a popular series it isn't cosplayed a lot.

People are going to cosplay the characters they like from those popular series. Chie and Yukiko are popular. Naoto is popular. Teddie is not. Kanji is not and his wig is hard to do for a noob. Ken is not popular and nobody bothers with the dog Koromaru (or even a plushie.) You can't change that so it's best for you to be different or urge your friends if they are into Persona too. I'm asking my group what Persona cosplays they are going to do for Acen so I don't do a duplicate or do someone not done.

Yet there's like three Yu's at cons and sometimes a few Chie's. Nobody really cares about 'moving in on their trademark.' The problem is many times people lack originality and would rather go with the crowd than stand out or do what's popular to get attention than stand out and be original. Plus Teddie isn't a popular character either.

I don't mind when people cosplay similar things but at least stand out. If I see two Gijinka cosplay outfits that are the same Pokemon most of the time they end up having nothing different besides body type. Stand out more is what I'm saying. Or don't do what's in the crowd. If you see a shitload of Deadpool don't just do Deadpool too. Do another Marvel character you like or do something that Deadpool has in the comic books that you never seen before.
