I'm pretty sure bootleg purses and teaparties are frowned upon even in lolita, at least from what I've seen.

Like the bag below, I guess it could be a pretty generic desing, right? But when they sell copies with even the minor details being copied and even the zipper pullers being the same shape, it's definitely no longer "oh they just had the same idea" kind of situation. Same goes for most of the bootleg itabags. The Utapri ones aren't so frowned upon because they don't come in the same colours as the originals, they don't have the polkadot pattern, they've got loops in the window and are missing the loop on the side. It's really only the same shape. Same with the Swimmer tote knock off. It's only loosely based on on the original. Same can't be said for example about the To Alice bootlegs.

There's few ones with bigger differences that aren't so hated, like the one without the white panel which I think is the one that's linked in the faq. I guess people are extra touchy about the To Alice bag, because it's such a great design that lots of people loved, but selfish people ruined things for everyone.
