Most people add some sort of filter, because even if you look fine it can make the whole photo way more visually pleasing. Its just playing with lighting and saturation so I don't get the problem lol. Here's the original picutre. As you can see I basically just darkened it and added the tilt shift. Where as on the other one I lightened the photo and took te saturation down because you couldn't differ my socks from my shoes originally and that's why its duller in colour.
