Yeah OP, lemme just make some daedric armor with no experience, no tools, and no workplace for working with metal. Should be easy and cheap.

Metal smiting seems like there's a steeper learning curve than when it comes to making fake armor out of whatever the fuck. Especially when it comes to decorative pieces, which is usually what makes up most fantasy armor.

IMO if you feel like you can do it, do it. But when it comes to fantasy armor, as long as you can make it look convincing, fake armor is great in my book.
