/cgl/ - Cosplay & EGL

My first character was pretty shameful, I'm so glad I evolved into something much more practical and finally have a full steel set (can't wear the arms until I take them in/put in an insane amount of padding until they're snug which has wisely been suggested to me in another thread)

Got sick of cosplay drama, friend at Games Workshop suggested I try LARP. I started off with archery, moved to a dane axe, now I pretty much exclusively use polearms.

Making fancy as fuck outfits, the awesome feeling when you get a giant box of armour in the post and all the friends you make
>How do you create your characters?
Pretty much a mash up of characters from books/shows that I like, I'm horrible at accents but I try my best and hope I improve. Costume-wise I get an idea (usually from warhammer fantasy and historical stuff) look at what materials I have available then work from there.

Also does anyone have any tips for re-attaching gauntlets to gloves? the tips of the leather gloves keep tearing off no matter how many times I sew them back on with thick upholstery thread, at least one finger breaks free every time I wear them to an event. Duct tape works but doesn't look too pretty at all
