I have a boyfriend that absolutely loves that I wear lolita and has offered on several occasions to buy me brand. I am always apprehensive about letting people buy me shit so I usually decline, but I found one of my dream dresses in my preferred color and cut and am seriously tempted to ask him to buy it for me.

The number one reason why Anime North is more recognized is because Otakuthon is held in Quebec. A lot of people doesn't give a shit about it because they think it's held entirely in French and believe the people there will shit on them for not speaking the language, but the con itself is for the most part in English and the people who goes there usually knows both languages even if they are Frenchies.

So If you care more about events, panels, and general fun, you'd love Otakuthon more. every hours you'll find a bunch of events/panels/video/tg/games going on, just choose what you like more and you'll be off to go. You'll even find voice actors doing their own panels instead of just simple q&a. You can even try and make your own panel there and the staff will be more willing to receive you compared to AN's no fun allowed demands unless you're a transexual. Last year a bunch of anons held a gachimuchi panel at Otakuthon and they got rejected at AN's.

Hell, doing some sight seeing around Montreal is pretty nice when you got some time to kill or if you want to eat. You got a china town right next to Otakuthon, fireworks by La Ronde which isn't too far from the con, and a bunch of other shit to do compared to AN. The con itself may seem small compared to AN's five hotels, but the wide variety of rooms on each floors makes it more than ideal especially when you compare how much is going on between Otakuthon's and AN's.

Also take note that Anime North is right next to a airport. You'll have a shit ton of planes passing on top of the con every six minutes, which can get pretty annoying
