Meh wearing a cutsew that's nothing more than a regular t-shirt with a print (when cold layered with a basic cardigan) has been around since before lolita hit the west. This kind of look is supposed to be very plain and kinda boring. Like the tees and jeans of lolita fashion, super casual. I always like the old snaps like good row pic related (wish the socks on the left one were plain black tho, the last one not old but I do really like it and it's one of the fewer non-snaps that look good) because it's so wearable and comfy, but rarely do people not fuck it up. It's peoples' inability to style it that makes it suck so often, especially when they try to be edgy or make it special. Even if it's casual, there still should be thought put into it.

Seems on one side the fact it's not the "popular OTT kinda thing that get likes" make edgelords flock to it to be different but then try to make it look even edgier which just look weird and ugly, then hide behind "experimental".

And on the other hand people who try to style any t-shirt or long sleeve with lolita ignoring the cut (yes there are different cuts in t-shirts and long sleeves) causing a weird silhouette. Very straight loose cuts seem to work the best, with either poofy sleeves or straight sleeves. Like bad row first one wears a tight lace long sleeve with camisole which is just so different in style and silhouette, second has no sleeves looking kinda bare and weird in the same way many blouseless JSK coords look weird, third (aside of being overal bad) has typical western female cut shirt with shorter sleeves and more defined waist. Fourth has a western female oversized cut, being wide bit keeping those diagonal sleeves and as well as being overall very cheap and thin looking.
